The joy of leeks

A day of revision. Cooked leeks for supper and thought they looked interesting on the chopping board (see what revision does to my sanity!).

Motorway Station

Probably the bleakest place on Earth. Stopped here on the way back from the funeral and later went to Okawari for supper as it was Mike Schofield's birthday. I tried to read The Origin of Species in the car and highlight all the important points but it was really difficult! Quite a random day.

Boat Race Day!

Sarah was ill so Emily, Felicity, Tom and I made our own way to Hammersmith using Sarah's printout from Googlemaps. It was packed with people on both the streets and roads so getting there was really difficult! We walked along the towpath for some of the journey and finally managed to get to Hammersmith bridge. Here squeezed through the crowds to find a patch of grass to have our pic-nic. This was a great relief as I'd started to feel very sick on our way there.
We met some other Hertford people including Joe and Matt. We then tried to get to the bridge to watch the boats go past from there but it was blocked off from the police. There were so many people around that in the end I hardly managed to see the boats go past! Matt and I lost the other people in the rush so then made our way to the bug screen. Here, Matt managed to help me balance on a railing so I could see from the crowd, tell him what was happening and take some pictures.
Oxford won!
There was loads of cheering from the crowd and people began to slowly disappear back towards the pubs. We managed to find the others and started to head back. On the way I stopped to take a picture of the bridge and a reporter interviewed us all for a London radiostation. It was a VERY hectic day but very much worth it.

Sleepover at Sarah's

Had work at the farmer's market in the morning but then met up with Sarah, Emily, Tom, Felicity and Chandni ready for the boat race the next day. We slept over at Sarah's (although she was ill with flu and didn't feel too good :( ) and watched the amazingness that is Ghost. I hated that film when I was a kid but watching it again made me realise that its not all too bad...quite cute actually...although the clothes and hairstyles are slightly odd >_<

The day I met Saya

Went to Knightsbridge to get my haircut at Sanrizz hairdresser's college. Thanks to Alice's amazing voucher I got it all for free (although it took 3 hours!). Today they had trainee students from Japan and the girl cutting my hair was called Saya. She didn't speak much English (and the only Japanese I know is how to count to 10...and I can't even do that properly >_<) so I did the typical English thing of talking reeeeaaaalllyyyy slowly and loudly without meaning to....When I asked if she liked England she answered with "fish & chips!"...I knew we'd be BFFs from then :D

Afterwards, I walked down to High Street Kensington because it was a really nice day and I wanted to show off my AMAZING haircut (yup, I wasn't left bald :O ). Although I REALLY wanted to take my POTD in the hair salon I don't think they would've let me so I took this quick shot as I walked past one of the streets on my walk. I love how all the houses around Gloucester Road and S. Kensington are so tall and uniform. As usual, these were situated around a green which is only accessible to the people living in the houses. I'd love to live in a place like this.

Dusk in the city

Went with Dani to Oxford street where we met up with Alice and her friend (eep, can't remember her name!) and had lunch in a Thai restaurant off Carnaby Street. Had a look in Traffic People where we tried on dresses and I fell in love with a red ruffled one with black polka dots and a black belt (£69 >_< ...if only, dammit!). Once home, the sun began to set and I ran up to the loft to take this picture. It took a couple of shots to get the balance between the colours of the sunset and silhouetes of the clouds, trees and houses right but I made it!

Queen Mary's

Went to visit Dani at Queen Mary's. We drank loads of green tea and made healthy smoothies while watching Repo; The Genetic opera (slightly V for Vendetta-like). Later went out at the Student Union bar and watched a basketball match.

Coffee

Met up with Poweel and Sam B before Sam heads out to Kenya as part of his gap year. It felt kinda weird to see Sam after such a long time especially when we started to reminisce about Twyford days..

Fonthill Road

The day we visited Alice's house and saw the GLORY that is FONTHILL - shrine of cheap clothes. Highlight included rows of gold, zebra printed, neon, shiny rainbow and various colours of wet-look leggings or, also, the tiny top (which would've served me as a hat..) that Nabs found with "SEXY" written in red glitter on the front. stunning.

Doves

Went to work at the farmer's market in Barnes for the day and walked back to Hammersmith along the river. The tide was really low so I went down the steps onto the muddy bank where I stumbled over the slime by the deserted shore. The sun was shining in the cloudless sky and it was one of those days when you smile to yourself for no reason and people give you odd looks (you're the only one who seems happy AND you're walking by yourself along the riverbank while everyone else is on the street above..).
I love Barnes.
Chesca had an interview for her work experience and came back with these doves. I couldn't bring my camera to work but these are perfect for my POTD(photo of the day ^^)

Went for a walk with Dad along the Brentford canal for the day. Found out that he bumped every time in summer eights of his third year which is why we have an oar at home...

Finally home

Suprisingly being at home wasn't such as shock as I imagined it would be. However, the lack of space can sometimes be frustrating and makes me feel claustrophobic.

Empty room

Last day in Oxford. My room looked so sad and small once I had cleared all my stuff out of it. Joe and Tom helped to put all my stuff in the car..I had about 20cm square of space for the entire journey. Will try to not bring as much crap up next term >_<

1,2,3 tequila

While packing my things I found a pack of Mexican chilli sweets at the back of the cupboard. This was Talia, Amelia and Alice's reaction to them...
After, we went to Amelia's room for tequila shots with Tom, Tom, Ben, Helen, Helena, Marja, Felicity, Matt, Joe, Sarah, Chandni and Manasi. Some red wine was spilt on the carpet so Alice and Tali tried to dry it up with a pizza box and them followed to sprinkle some salt and pepper on the stain.. Amelia put a mango down her top and looked very proud..Tom wore a gold mankini...my Mexican hat got passed round but managed to stay in one piece...I got wrapped up together with a tipsy Felicity in loo roll...the next day we found shreds of it on the stairs and in Amelia's room...Amelia back-combed Ben's hair into a super-huge afro (we don't think he was too happy about it)...Joe and Matt sniffed the remaining Mexican sweets from a pizza box(interesting..)

Death by chocolate

After visiting the old vintage market (and buying a super-cute blue suitcase!) Alice and I proceeded to Sam's room to "help" him finish off the chocolate fountain. I have NEVER EVER felt so sick from chocolate in my life. We finished all the strawberries, biscuits, grapes and then proceeded to scoop out the remaining chocolate from the fountain with spoons.

Oriel Crew Date

Photo taken by Tom before Sharon, Alice and I went on a rowing crew date with Oriel men's at Jamal's. The night continued with LOTS of pennying and people drinking wine of out shoes (ew!) and then ended off at Hertford bar. After, I got my very own personal tour round Oriel college :)

Old Holi washing outside Alice's room..

Marja: See! This is proof that I'm not the only messy one here!

(In Alice's defence, some of that clothes are also mine...)

Essay crisis time with Alice and our great adventure

Rushed to finish my essay on smallpox while Alice did her history work in my room. Got a call from Ben at 12am inviting us to a bonfire on Port Meadow. So, we got changed out of our PJs and walked until we got to a HUGE field at the top of Oxford. Finally managed to find Ben along the path and spent the rest of the night/early morning singing songs round a fire along with other students.

Anna Time

Needed some time to get away and clear my head to took the camera and walked around Magdalen college's founder's garden. Although, at first glance, the garden seemed bare the path was lined with daffodils, snowdrops and crocuses.

"The Joy"

In honour of our friend Joy who came to Oxford in Michaelmas term we decided to dip our chocolate in tea...if you haven't already tried this you're missing out..I recommend white Divine chocolate the most. This is the only good pic Alice was able to take. The rest were blurred thus proving that she'd be a rubbish pap. ^_^

Holi '09

So Tom figured he'd get me back by banging on my door at 1am on Sunday night along with his guy mates.. I was NOT happy especialy seeing as I'd planned to go to Christ Church mass at 9am the next day. It was therefore REALLY therapeutic to hit him with paint at Humsoc's Holi festival event. Held in Magdalen's park, we ended up covered in chalk paint which also got into my mouth and turned it blue (also tasted disgusting). Was also really fun to walk back to college and see the different reactions of people passing us :) In all, a really fun day which must be repeated
