El Dia de Reyes

Today is King's day in Mexico where people celebrate the three Kings visiting baby Jesus. We traditionaly eat a Rosca de Reyes with hot chocolate at Abu and Duado's. Inside the cake would be a number of tiny plastic dolls which you had to find and , if you did, you were supposed to throw a party on the 2nd Feb (which suits me just fine!). This happened in the evenings and we'd usually invite some neighbours round too. However, that morning, we would enter the living room to collect our shoes. The tradition goes that children leave their shoes by the Christmas tree so the three Kings put presents inside them. These are usually small things like make-up and sweets but it's a tradition that's merged with Christmas so Mexican and Spanish children basically have three celebrations to look forward to (include New Year's)!

Chesca and I left our shoes out last night and got a few cute presents like earrings and make-up. It's been snowing all day but it doesn't seem to settle. I really hope that we get a blizzard like the rest of the country so school is cancelled. That way Chesca and I can go out and take pictures together. This one was taken as I walked down the avenue of trees in Llamas park. I love how different and icy they look under the layer of snow.
